MILWAUKEE -- Milwaukee Brewers second baseman Rickie Weeks was taken to a hospital for diagnostic tests during Wednesday night's game against the Chicago Cubs after injuring his left ankle running to first base.
Weeks needed to be helped off the field by manager Ron Roenicke and assistant athletic trainer Dan Wright.
Weeks beat out a throw in the second inning from Cubs shortstop Starlin Castro, but took a long stride, twisting the ankle awkwardly while touching the base. He stumbled to the ground and Wright immediately came out to begin testing spots on his lower left ankle and calf.
Brewers owner Mark Attanasio said the ankle wasn't broken, but couldn't give any more information.
Weeks is hitting .272 with 19 homers and 43 RBIs in 104 games. Craig Counsell took his place.
