Mark Rogers banned for stimulant

NEW YORK -- A minor league pitcher who played for the Milwaukee Brewers last year has been suspended 25 games after a second positive test for a stimulant.

Right-hander Mark Rogers was suspended Friday for a violation of the Major League Baseball drug program.

Rogers was Milwaukee's first-round draft pick in 2004. He made his big league debut last season and had a 1.80 ERA in four games.

Rogers has played at three levels of the minors this year and was a combined 0-5 with a 9.34 ERA. He was at Class A Brevard County and on Milwaukee's 40-man roster when the suspension was announced.

The Brewers issued a statement saying they support MLB's drug policies and their enforcement.
