Rockies activate RHP Alex White

DENVER -- The Colorado Rockies activated right-hander Alex White from the 60-day disabled list to start against the Houston Astros on Tuesday night.

White was acquired from Cleveland in the five-player deal that sent pitcher Ubaldo Jimenez to the Indians on July 31. White was 1-3 with a 3.60 ERA with Cleveland before going on the DL on May 21 with a torn tendon on his left middle finger.

To make room for White on the 40-man roster, the Rockies transferred right-hander Juan Nicasio to the 60-day DL.

Earlier Tuesday, the Rockies acquired infielder Kevin Kouzmanoff and cash from the Oakland Athletics in exchange for a player to be named.

Kouzmanoff, who grew up in Colorado, hit .221 with four homers and 17 RBIs in 46 games with Oakland. He will report to Triple-A Colorado Springs.

Colorado also placed righty Edgmer Escalona on the 15-day DL, retroactive to Saturday, with a right rotator cuff strain.
