Report: Chase Utley due back Thursday

Second baseman Chase Utley is expected to return to the Philadelphia Phillies' lineup Thursday, according to a report in the Philadelphia Inquirer.

Utley has missed the last seven games with a mild concussion after being hit in the head by Atlanta's Eric O'Flaherty last Wednesday. Utley has twice passed Impact tests, which measure the level of a concussion, according to the Inquirer.

The team cleared Utley to exercise Saturday. Utley was foggy in the aftermath of being hit. Phillies assistant general manager Scott Proefrock says Utley has been without symptoms since.

"He was starting to drive some balls and get his swing down," Phillies manager Charlie Manuel told the Inquirer. "Then he got hit in the head, and it set him back. But he has time to get ready. When we do get into the playoffs, he'll be ready."

Utley missed the first 46 games of the season with patellar tendinitis in his right knee. He is hitting .262 with 10 homers and 41 RBIs in 88 games.
