Phillies offer arbitration to Jimmy Rollins
PHILADELPHIA -- The Philadelphia Phillies have offered arbitration to free agents Jimmy Rollins, Ryan Madson and Raul Ibanez.
The players have until Nov. 30 to accept. If they sign elsewhere, the Phillies would be entitled to compensatory picks in next June's draft.
The Phillies are hoping to retain Rollins, the shortstop who won the 2007 NL MVP. The team signed Jonathan Papelbon to replace Madson as the closer.
Ibanez, the starting left fielder the last three years, made $12 million this year. It's possible he could return on a one-year deal for less money.
Starter Roy Oswalt and reliever Brad Lidge were not offered arbitration.
