KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- The Toronto Blue Jays placed closer Sergio Santos on the 15-day disabled with right shoulder inflammation after a 9-5 victory Saturday night over the Kansas City Royals.
Santos is 2-for-4 in save situations with an 0-1 record and 9.00 ERA in six relief appearances. Manager John Farrell said Francisco Cordero, who had 327 career saves, would be the closer in Santos' absence.
The Blue Jays recalled left-hander Evan Crawford from Triple-A Las Vegas, where he had not allowed a run in three games and four innings. Crawford pitched in two games with Toronto earlier this season, giving up a hit and walking three in two innings.
