Pirates bring up Gorkys Hernandez

DETROIT -- The Pittsburgh Pirates have recalled outfielder Gorkys Hernandez from Triple-A Indianapolis on Friday.
To make room for Hernandez on the active roster, Pittsburgh optioned right-hander Evan Meek to Indianapolis. The Pirates had been carrying 13 pitchers.
The 24-year-old Hernandez has yet to make his major league debut. He was hitting .266 at Triple-A when he was promoted.
Meek has a 7.59 ERA in 10 relief appearance for the Pirates this season.
