Freddie Freeman bruises finger
MIAMI -- Atlanta Braves first baseman Freddie Freeman hurt his left index finger trying to break up a double play, and he'll undergo X-rays Thursday.
Freeman left Wednesday night's game at Miami in the fourth inning, and afterward his finger was in a splint. The initial diagnosis was a bruise.
"It doesn't feel good right now," he said. "My hand was in the wrong place at the wrong time."
Freeman was sliding into second base when he was hit at close range by Hanley Ramirez's relay throw. Freeman was called out for interference.
He had vision problems most of May and missed four consecutive games late in the month. He said his contacts were causing a burning sensation and blurry vision, and he only recently reported improvement after getting sports glasses.
"I just started feeling good with my eyes, starting to see the ball," he said. "Seven at-bats later, here we go again. I hope this isn't bad. I hope it's nothing more than a bruise."
Freeman is batting .253 with eight homers and 36 RBIs.
