Curt Schilling on leave from ESPN

Former major league pitcher Curt Schilling has taken a leave of absence from his role as an ESPN baseball analyst in order to focus on business issues.

According to a Boston Globe report, Schilling is being sued for $2.4 million by RBS Citizens, better known as Citizens Bank, in loans made to his video game company, 38 Studios.

The company filed for Chapter 7 bankruptcy protection last week. It laid off its entire workforce in May soon after it was late in making a $1.1 million payment to the Rhode Island Economic Development Corp.

38 Studios was lured from Massachusetts to Rhode Island in 2010 after receiving a $75 million loan guarantee from the state.

An ESPN spokesman said he expects Schilling to return later this season.
