BALTIMORE -- The Baltimore Orioles have reinstated outfielder Nick Markakis from the 15-day disabled list and optioned infielder Joe Mahoney to Triple-A Norfolk.
Markakis was reinstated Monday after going on the DL June 1, retroactive to May 30, with a broken hamate bone of the right wrist. It was the first time in his career that he was on the DL.
Markakis batted .300 with a double and two home runs in three rehab games with Double-A Bowie.
Mahoney made his major league debut Saturday against the Angels, going 0 for 3.
