CINCINNATI -- The Cincinnati Reds expect right-hander Johnny Cueto to start on Tuesday against the Arizona Diamondbacks despite a blister on the index finger of his pitching hand.
Cueto developed the blister during his bullpen session last week and had to skip his scheduled start Sunday night. Homer Bailey filled in and threw eight innings in a 4-2 win over St. Louis that moved the Reds into sole possession of first place in the NL Central, Cincinnati's sixth straight win.
Cueto's finger was much better Monday, so manager Dusty Baker planned to go ahead and let him pitch the second game of the series a day later. He leads the staff with 10 wins and ranks third in the NL with a 2.39 ERA.
