Rays activate Sam Fuld from DL
BALTIMORE -- Outfielder Sam Fuld has been activated from the 60-day disabled list by the Tampa Bay Rays.
Fuld will make his season debut Tuesday night against the Baltimore Orioles. He was batting seventh and in left field.
Fuld has been sidelined since surgery to repair ligaments in his right wrist on April 3. He played in a combined 10 games with Class A Charlotte and Triple-A Charlotte during a minor league rehabilitation assignment.
The Rays made room for Fuld on the 25-man roster by optioning pitcher Brandon Gomes to Durham on Sunday. To clear space for Fuld on the 40-man roster, Tampa Bay moved third baseman Evan Longoria (torn left hamstring) from the 15-day DL to the 60-day disabled list.
The 30-year-old Fuld hit .240 in 105 games last year.
