BALTIMORE -- The Baltimore Orioles have recalled left-hander Dana Eveland from Triple-A Norfolk to fortify their overworked bullpen.
Eveland arrived Thursday morning, less than 24 hours after manager Buck Showalter used five relievers in a 10-1 loss to Tampa Bay. Starter Miguel Gonzalez didn't make it out of the third inning, leaving Showalter in need of a long man for Thursday's afternoon game against the Rays.
Eveland went 0-1 with a 4.73 ERA in 14 games with the Orioles from May 11-July 15.
To clear room for Eveland on the roster, Baltimore optioned infielder Steve Tolleson to Norfolk. Tolleson hit .194 with two home runs and six RBIs in 23 games during three stints with the Orioles this season.
