PHOENIX -- Scott Podsednik has declined to accept his assignment to Triple-A Reno and has been released by the Arizona Diamondbacks.
The 36-year-old outfielder and right-handed reliever Matt Albers were acquired from Boston at the trade deadline for lefty reliever Craig Breslow.
Podsednik hit .387 with one homer and seven RBIs for Boston after being acquired from Philadelphia for cash on May 11.
The Diamondbacks said Albers reported to the team in Philadelphia, where Arizona -- now two games out of the lead in the NL West -- opens a three-game series with the Phillies on Friday.
