Chad Qualls rejoins Pirates

SAN DIEGO -- The Pittsburgh Pirates have reinstated right-handed pitcher Chad Qualls from the bereavement list and have recalled RHP Daniel McCutchen from Triple-A Indianapolis on Tuesday.

Qualls, who made his last appearance on Wednesday, is 1-1 with a 5.11 ERA in 42 appearances. McCutchen is in his third stint with the Pirates this season but has yet to make an appearance.

Pittsburgh also optioned rookie RHP Kyle McPherson and rookie LHP Justin Wilson to Indianapolis. Both players were called up to the Pirates on Monday and made their major league debuts against the Padres.
