DENVER -- Colorado Rockies catcher Ramon Hernandez has a torn tendon in his left hamstring and will miss the remainder of the season.
Hernandez suffered the injury running out a ground-rule double against the San Francisco Giants on Monday night. An initial MRI was inconclusive, but a second MRI on Wednesday revealed a tear.
Hernandez will have season-ending surgery next week, the Rockies said.
Hernandez is hitting .217 with five home runs and 28 RBIs in his first season with Colorado.
