Source: Jeff Francis, Rockies agree

Free agent left-hander Jeff Francis has agreed to a one-year, $1.5 million contract with the Colorado Rockies pending a physical, a source said Wednesday.

Performance bonuses could increase the total value of Francis' deal to about $3 million.

Francis, 31, is 67-73 with a 4.86 ERA in eight career seasons with Colorado and Kansas City. He'll join Jhoulys Chacin, Jorge De La Rosa, Tyler Chatwood, Drew Pomeranz and Juan Nicasio as a candidate for Colorado's rotation next season.

Colorado's first-round pick in the 2002 draft, Francis ranks second to Aaron Cook on the Rockies' career list with 61 victories, 173 starts and 995 2/3 innings pitched.
