The commissioner's office announced the penalty Monday evening, minutes before St. Louis hosted Arizona. Molina appealed the decision and was in the starting lineup against the Diamondbacks.
His presence in Monday's lineup helped St. Louis earn a 7-1 victory over Arizona. Molina had two hits, including a homer, and drove in two runs to back a solid outing from starting pitcher Lance Lynn.
"He wasn't happy with the way [Sunday] went and you can't blame him," Lynn said. "You knew that he was going to show up tonight and give everything he had and he did that for us."
Molina was thrown out on a close play at first base during Sunday's game against San Francisco and slammed his helmet to the ground. First-base umpire Clint Fagan immediately ejected Molina, who then went to argue. Everitt got in front of Molina, who bumped into him.
The announcement of the suspension was made by Joe Garagiola Jr., baseball's senior vice president of standards and operations.
Molina, a four-time All-Star and five-time Gold Glove winner, entered Monday's game hitting .350 and now has five homers, 14 doubles and 31 RBIs this season.
