Kevin Slowey to start vs. Braves
Manager Mike Redmond said the team anticipated the trade and kept Slowey available. The right-hander is 3-6 with a 4.24 ERA and last worked in relief on July 2. He's made 13 starts, the last on June 12.
"As of right now, we'll plan on this start Monday," Redmond said. "And then we'll figure it out there."
Redmond said the Marlins would miss Nolasco, but noted the pitcher was going where he wanted. The 30-year-old Nolasco was born in suburban Los Angeles and was 5-8 with a 3.85 in 18 starts for the Marlins.
"I think we all knew this was going to happen and I think it's good for Ricky," Redmond said. "I got a chance to say goodbye to him. He's a good guy, a true professional, and we hope he goes out and does well -- just not against us.
Nolasco is making $11.5 million this season and will be a free agent after the season.
