David Price: 'Embarrassed for myself'
ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. -- Two days after his Twitter commentary about David Ortiz and some of the TBS studio broadcast team, David Price stood outside the Rays' clubhouse before Monday's playoff contest against the Red Sox and spoke about the controversy to a throng of media.

"I reached out to [Ortiz] and I told him how much I respect him and what he means to the game," said Price, who went on a tirade both in postgame interviews and on Twitter following his tough outing in Game 2 on Saturday at Boston.
"I told him I thought he was one of the best [designated hitters] to have ever played the game, if not the best, and told him the respect I have for him. He's always taken the time to talk to people before the game, to kids, to sign autographs. He's always taken the time to go over and talk to my mom and dad, and I respect him for the type of person he is."
Price seemed annoyed in the postgame interview session Saturday when he was asked about Ortiz spending too much time admiring his second home run of the night.
He also admonished the media, mumbling, "Nice questions, nerds," upon exiting the podium, and followed that up with criticism on social media about TBS broadcasters Tom Verducci and Dirk Hayhurst.
"I'm embarrassed for myself and the organization," Price said. "I apologize for my actions to everyone involved. This game is very special to me, and I treated it with disrespect by doing what I did. I love what I do, and the game of baseball has made me into the person I am today."
