Bad luck a factor for A.J. Pierzynski?

Pierzynski has suffered a massive OPS decline this season. However, the numbers suggest that he's still squaring up the ball. FiveThirtyEight measures just how much bad luck has played a role in Pierzynski's poor performance. Hitting hard, or into hard luck?

Braves remain unbeaten vs. Marlins

Atlanta is now 4-0 against Miami this season after Friday's 4-2 win, a far cry from its 9-34 record against all other teams, ESPN Stats & Info notes.

Major League Baseball Commissioner Rob Manfred should be praised and complimented for his strong hand in the significant 82-game suspension of Braves Hector Olivera for his violation of the joint Domestic Violence, Sexual Assault and Child Abuse Policy. However, what should not get lost in the suspension is the agreement and support of the Players Association and their leader Tony Clark. A good sign regarding the relationship between the two parties as they continue negotiations on a new collective bargaining agreement as well as both sides recognizing the seriousness of this type of behavior.
