Dusty Baker on the Matt Harvey situation: "It's his prerogative to do what he wants to do. If he don't wanna talk, he doesn't have to talk. But he's making it harder on himself. New York'll eat you up."

Eddie Matz ESPN Senior Writer

Nats skipper Dusty Baker said that sitting Bryce Harper against Mets southpaw Steven Matz isn't about the lefty-lefty matchup. "It's more of a mental day off...this is probably the worst period that Bryce has gone through." Over the past month, Harper is hitting .184 with 25 strikeouts in 76 at-bats.

Apparently, the ball really does carry further in warm weather. On the balmiest day of the year at Nats Park by far (83 at game time), Washington tied a season-high with five bombs - including one by Ben Revere, just the fifth of his career - en route to a 7-4 win over the Mets.

Stephen Strasburg has 10 K's through six innings against the Mets. It's his fifth double-digit whiff game this season, and the 26th of his career.

Eddie Matz ESPN Senior Writer

Hard to say whether it's the warm weather or Matt Harvey that's making the ball travel further, but the Nats have three bombs in five innings, including a Daniel Murphy three-run shot that landed well into the second deck. Washington leads 5-1 after five.

Nats Park crowd chanting "Har-vey, Har-vey" following back-to-back solo shots by Ryan Zimmerman and Anthony Rendon off Matt Harvey. It's the fourth time Washington has gone back-to-back this season.

Nats hold three of MLB's top prospects

RHP Lucas Giolito now tops Keith Law's list of noteworthy prospects. SS Trea Turner could be an upgrade over Danny Espinosa on both sides of the ball, which might make a difference in the race against the Mets. And once he comes into power, Victor Robles could be a force to be reckoned with. Law: Top 25 MLB prospects (Insider)
