Major League Baseball Commissioner Rob Manfred should be praised and complimented for his strong hand in the significant 82-game suspension of Braves Hector Olivera for his violation of the joint Domestic Violence, Sexual Assault and Child Abuse Policy. However, what should not get lost in the suspension is the agreement and support of the Players Association and their leader Tony Clark. A good sign regarding the relationship between the two parties as they continue negotiations on a new collective bargaining agreement as well as both sides recognizing the seriousness of this type of behavior.
The Atlanta Braves' dismal season took another turn for the worse Thursday when outfielder Hector Olivera was suspended through Aug. 1 for his arrest on domestic violence charges.
