Roberts, Surhoff to rep Orioles at draft

Former Orioles 2B Brian Roberts and LF B.J. Surhoff will represent the team at this year's MLB draft. Roberts spent 13 of his 14 years in the majors with Baltimore and was twice an All-Star, while Surhoff had two separate stints with the O's from 1996-2000 and '03-05.

Tweak to delivery keys Tillman's success

Chris Tillman made a minor adjustment to his leg lift during his delivery entering this season, and it is paying off in a major way (2.61 ERA). "We're talking about, you know, so small," Tillman said of the tweak. "I feel like I'm more consistent right now, and I can throw my off-speed for strikes." Baltimore Sun

The Orioles have traded Brian Matusz to the Braves for two minor leaguers: RHP Brandon Barker & LHP Trevor Belicek. A former fourth overall pick in 2008, the 29-year old lefty was 21-33 with a 5.51 ERA in four seasons as a starter. Matusz, who transitioned to a relief role in 2012, posted a career-low 2.94 ERA last year. But this season, after suffering a lower back injury in spring training, he's struggled, allowing 11 hits and seven walks in six innings, while posting a 12.00 ERA. The trade leaves closer Zach Britton as the Orioles' only lefty reliever.

Orioles hold steady in rankings

Baltimore went 3-3 last week, but a big positive for the team is the recent performance of catcher Matt Wieters, who has been raking at the plate. Week 7 Power Rankings

Wieters' three-run birthday homer

Matt Wieters had a 30th birthday that will be hard to forget, thanks to his three-run home run. Two other Orioles have homered on their 30th birthdays since the franchise moved to Baltimore in 1954.
