Correa over Harper, Trout, and Machado (1:37)

Andrew Marchand ESPN Senior Writer

Count Yankees manager Joe Girardi as one person encouraged by Luis Severino's start on Tuesday. In his loss, Severino allowed four runs (three earned) on five hits, two of which were Mark Trumbo homers, in six innings. Severino's batting average against (.333) is the third worst in baseball. Still, Girardi is encouraged. "I think he is closer," Girardi said.

Orioles hand Yankees sixth straight loss (1:13)

No Hardy, no Britton, no problem. Mark Trumbo went deep twice, Chris Tillman tied a career-high with nine strikeouts, and Darren O'Day got the save in the Orioles 4-1 victory over the Yankees. The win moves the O's into a first-place tie with the Red Sox.

Standing ovation for Chris Tillman, who fans the side in the seventh. The Orioles righty, who's likely done after 110 pitches, has tied a career-high with nine punchouts on the night. In his last three starts, all against AL East foes, Tillman has a 1.37 ERA with 22 K's in 19.2 innings.

Trumbo sends a pair to the seats (0:41)

Eddie Matz ESPN Senior Writer

Mark Trumbo just took Luis Severino deep for the second time tonight to extend the Orioles lead to 4-1. It's his second multi-mash this season, and the ninth of his career. He's now tied for the AL lead with nine dingers.

Andrew Marchand ESPN Senior Writer

Yankees starter Luis Severino has struggled on the mound so far in his second season. On Tuesday, so far, he has struggled at first. For the second time in four innings, he has dropped a flip at first base. Here, in the fourth, it has cost him a run. He is now down 2-1 to the Orioles.

Andrew Marchand ESPN Senior Writer

Yankees GM Brian Cashman said it is his "responsibility" for his last place team's poor start more than manager Joe Girardi or his staff because he put the roster together. Cashman said that he would not represent how owner Hal Steinbrenner feels at the moment, but added Steinbrenner is "clearly not happy." The Yankees are 8-15 as they head into tonight's first pitch against the Orioles.

As if Manny Machado weren't already doing enough, now he's the captain of the Orioles infield. The AL's Player of the Month is starting at shortstop tonight, Baltimore's first game since J.J. Hardy went to the DL with a broken foot.

Andrew Marchand ESPN Senior Writer

No shake-up for the last place Yankee lineup. The usual suspects against the Orioles' Chris Tillman: Ellsbury, Gardner, A-Rod, Teixeira, McCann, Beltran, Castro, Didi and Headley.

Naming the All-Stars of April (2:46)

Eddie Matz ESPN Senior Writer

Bad news for the Baltimore Orioles: Shortstop J.J. Hardy is headed to the 15-day disabled list with a hairline fracture of his left foot, and is expected to miss about six weeks. The three-time Gold Glover is one of only four major-league shortstops without an error so far this season. The O's are expected to recall utility man Ryan Flaherty from Triple-A Norfolk to fill Hardy's roster spot. Manny Machado will likely slide over to shortstop with Flaherty getting the majority of the action at third base

Eddie Matz ESPN Senior Writer

Manny Machado has been named AL Player of the Month for April. The Orioles slugger either led the league or tied for the lead in hits (33), extra-base hits (17), total bases (64), and was second in average (.344) and OPS (1.061). In the field, the 23-year old former Platinum Glove winner didn't commit an error at third base until the final day of the month.

Source: Orioles SS Hardy (foot) out 6 weeks

Orioles shortstop J.J. Hardy is headed to the 15-day disabled list with a hairline fracture in his left foot and is expected to miss at least six weeks, a source confirmed to ESPN.

Jim Bowden ESPN Senior Writer

JJ Hardy out 6-8 weeks with left foot fracture leaving us with the obvious question....have the Orioles called the Braves on Erick Aybar yet?

Eric Karabell ESPN Senior Writer

Orioles should move Machado to shortstop with Hardy out a while. Good for fantasy. Shortstop is a problem! Of course, O's might play Alvarez at third and that's not good.

Orioles moving the wrong way

Baltimore moved three spots back in the rankings this week to No. 7, but the team may have found a hidden gem in Kevin Gausman. The rotation is receiving a much-needed boost. Week 4 Power Rankings
