How rare was the Royals' comeback win?

Kansas City scored seven runs in the bottom of the ninth on Saturday to win 8-7. Since 2010, teams are now 5-2,813 when trailing by six runs entering the bottom of the ninth, ESPN Stats & Info notes. And the Royals, in their 48-year history, had never before won a game in which they trailed by as many as six runs in the ninth inning or later, Elias Sports Bureau reports.

Bad luck a factor for Kendrys Morales?

Morales has suffered a massive OPS decline this season. However, the numbers suggest that he's still squaring up the ball. FiveThirtyEight measures just how much bad luck has played a role in Morales' poor performance. Hitting hard, or into hard luck?

The Royals have probably had the most stable lineups in the majors the past two seasons, with few injuries to position players (plus the most durable catcher in the game in Salvador Perez). With Mike Moustakas now joining Alex Gordon on the DL, the team's depth -- not viewed as a strength -- will be tested.

Tough one as Royals lose 3B Moustakas for rest of season with torn ACL. Royals no reasonable replacement for fantasy, but available choices include Valencia, Lamb, Nunez, Reynolds.

Royals could be active on trade market

Kansas City will likely look for inexpensive ways to upgrade its roster this summer, which is why Jim Bowden sees the Royals as a good match for Rich Hill and Josh Reddick of the A's or the Dodgers' Yasiel Puig. Top trade candidates, best fits (Insider)

Moustakas to have knee re-evaluated

After sitting out three straight games, Mike Moustakas will have his ailing right knee re-evaluated by the Royals' medical staff on Thursday. "It still bothers him to run laterally a little bit," manager Ned Yost said. Kansas City Star
