According to a member of the media from Japan, Thursday's MLB matchup between Kenta Maeda (Dodgers) and Ichiro Suzuki (Marlins), is the most anticipated in the Far East since Suzuki batted against the Yankees' Masahiro Tanaka last year. Suzuki struck out swinging against Maeda in the second inning. He had two hits against Tanaka last year.

Dodgers 28-year-old rookie Kenta Maeda, on the mound Thursday, is the first starting pitcher since at least 1913 to allow just one run through his first four starts, which were also his first four MLB appearances. Fernando Valenzuela gave up one run over his first five starts in 1981, but he had 10 relief appearances in 1980. Maeda's 0.36 ERA is second in MLB to Jordan Zimmerman's 0.35 mark.

New Dodgers pitching sensation Kenta Maeda will get a chance to face off against his hero Thursday. Maeda idolized Ichiro Suzuki while growing up in Japan, but never imagined he would get a chance to pitch to the future Hall of Famer. His chance has arrived as the Marlins have Suzuki batting sixth in the series finale at Dodger Stadium. Maeda is 3-0 with a 0.36 ERA in his first four starts with the Dodgers.

Kenta Maeda surprises early on

Nobody could have projected Maeda's 0.36 ERA start. Over four outings, he has posted solid peripherals despite a sub-90 mph average fastball. He has stranded all 21 baserunners he's put on. The question now: How long he can maintain this style of play? Which surging, slumping players will continue? (Insider)

What has the Dodgers offense tied up in knots?

The Los Angeles Dodgers' offensive explosion in Colorado was a mirage, as the Miami Marlins have handcuffed L.A.'s bats. So what do the Dodgers do?

Kershaw headed for Hall of Fame?

On Tuesday, Clayton Kershaw recorded his 29th game with 10 strikeouts and no more than one walk, which ties Sandy Koufax for the most such games in Dodgers history. Don Drysdale and Dazzy Vance had 18 such games apiece, and all three pitching greats are in Cooperstown.

Clayton Kershaw done in by quick-strike Marlins

Clayton Kershaw was cruising along just fine against Miami on Tuesday, but all of a sudden the Marlins scored three more runs and handed him a loss.

It has been an interesting night for the Dodgers' Clayton Kershaw, who went from retiring 12 consecutive Marlins batters to giving up five consecutive hits and surrendering the lead. Miami's Giancarlo Stanton crushed a 3-run HR in the 6th inning. At the plate, Kershaw has two hits. The Marlins lead 5-3 in the sixth inning.

Injured Dodgers starter Hyun-Jin Ryu had a promising 30-pitch bullpen session Tuesday and could progress to live hitters by next week. Ryu has not pitched in a game since having shoulder surgery last season. The lefty's rehab had been slowed of late by a groin injury. No timetable has been set for his return.

The Dodgers recalled OF Carl Crawford from the 15-day disabled list Tuesday and had him in LF batting seventh against the Marlins. To make room on the roster, RHP Zach Lee was optioned to AAA Oklahoma City.

Chase Utley looking spry early on

For a 37-year-old guy with bad knees, Utley has been so good that manager Dave Roberts has trouble resting him. He's combined with Kike Hernandez to give the Dodgers a major lift out of the top spot in the order. Best new leadoff hitters
