Oakland reliever Sean Doolittle made sure 17 Syrian refugee families had something to be thankful for, hosting them for a dinner Thursday in Chicago. Also in attendance was city mayor Rahm Emanuel. Said Doolittle's girlfriend Eireann Dolan: "We thought we'd officially welcome them with one of our greatest American traditions, Thanksgiving." (via CSN Bay Area)

Liam Hendriks, who became a full-time reliever this past season with the Blue Jays, has been shipped to Oakland in exchange for right-hander Jesse Chavez.

The A's acquired Liam Hendriks from the Blue Jays for fellow pitcher Jesse Chavez. Hendriks became a reliever with Toronto this season and went 5-0 with a 2.92 ERA, while Chavez went 7-15 with a 4.18 ERA in 30 games this year.
