How 'bout Jeanmar Gomez to the Giants?

The Giants would like to add significant bullpen help, but they don't have the prospects to compete for the likes of the top relievers available, Jim Bowden writes. Enter Gomez, who could be had for a pitching prospect with mid-rotation potential. Bowden: Trades I'd like to see (Insider)

Giants do what they usually do at trade deadlines make precision under the radar moves that end up being significant acquiring Eduardo Nunez from Twins (remember Marco Scutaro and Javier Looez trades in past deadlines?) He fills in at 3B at least until Duffy comes back and then gives them versatile player who can also play 2B & OF. He leads AL with 26 SB with 12 HR .300 AVG. Twins get LHP Adalberto Mejia in return who profiles just as 6th or 7th inning reliever or 5th starter.

Giants serving up HRs at alarming rate

In the 10 games since the All-Star break, San Francisco pitchers have allowed an MLB-high 23 home runs. That's the most allowed by a Giants team in a 10-game span since August 1998, the Elias Sports Bureau reports.

Small chance Giants trade Phil Bickford

Bickford is the one Giants prospect who has made a big leap this season, with strong numbers in A-ball. The Giants aren't afraid to supplement their big league roster this time of year, but Bickford looks like the future replacement for Matt Cain or Jake Peavy.
