Rays need to be more picky

As you all may know, the Rays swing the bat a lot -- an awful lot. According to Fangraphs, there is no team that swings more often, which isn't necessarily a death sentence if they were doing well upon swinging, but the team is also dead last in contact rate, according to Jason Hanselman. Moore may not start against Angels

Given Los Angeles' strong numbers against left-handed pitching, Rays manager Kevin Cash indicated that Matt Moore could be pushed back instead of starting against the Angels on Sunday. Tampa Bay Times

Forsythe off to All-Star-worthy start

When it came to David Schoenfield's April All-Stars, Logan Forsythe was a player he wanted to include. He's showing his performance last year wasn't a fluke, hitting .337 and ranking in the top 10 among position players in WAR. Schoenfield: April All-Stars

Rays resting at No. 20

Tampa Bay continues to waste productive pitching. A 3-3 mark last week keeps it at equilibrium in the rankings, but the team must find a way to produce runs. Week 4 Power Rankings

Sunday's longest home runs

Evan Longoria's solo shot to left-center off Marcus Stroman was his second home run in as many games, and fifth of the season. A pair of Nationals made the list at exactly the same distance.

Stroman allows 1 run, Blue Jays beat Rays 5-1

Marcus Stroman allowed one run in eight innings on his 25th birthday, Troy Tulowitzki hit a three-run homer during a four-run ninth and the Toronto Blue Jays beat the Tampa Bay Rays 5-1 Sunday.

The Dodgers will scramble their starting rotation a bit next week. Scott Kazmir and Alex Wood will pitch at Tampa. Kenta Maeda was moved to next weekend's series at Toronto to face the right-handed heavy Jays lineup. The Dodgers are taking advantage of two off days next week to find matchups they prefer.

Too soon to discount Miller?

In 2014, many wrote Brad Miller off after he opened the season batting .151 through late May. But he clicked in from that point on, hitting .267 the rest of the way, a fact obscured by his poor start. It's why Ron Shandler is not too worried about Miller's .130 start.
