Pickups-wise, Lucas Giolito is worth the add on skills alone as well as the possibility he'll stick. Could be in Gio Gonzalez's place once Stephen Strasburg returns. That said, no ironclad guarantee it's more than a couple starts if Giolito doesn't immediately impress, so don't let anything go you can't afford to spare.

Lucas Giolito projects a 56 Game Score for his MLB debut Tuesday against the Mets. I know it's been a rough year for debuting starters, but that's a great matchup for an elite prospect. Go for it.

Nats skipper Dusty Baker just announced that Lucas Giolito, baseball's top pitching prospect, will be called up from Double-A Harrisburg to make his big league debut on Tuesday against the Mets. When asked if he was excited to see what Giloito can do, Baker said: "No. He's a prospect. Do you know how many prospects I've seen?"

Ross may be left behind in ballot crunch

Mets manager Terry Collins will definitely have his hands full when it comes to selecting a starting pitcher for his All-Star roster. The field of huge stars may result in a quality pitcher like Joe Ross being left out. Olney: Potential All-Star snubs (Insider)

More dominance from Tanner Roark

Roark threw seven scoreless innings for the fifth time this season in the Nationals' 3-2 win over the Brewers on Sunday. That ties him with the Cubs' Jake Arrieta for most such games in baseball, per ESPN Stats & Info.

For all those hoping to board the Lucas Giolito hype train, not so fast. Yes, the Nats' top prospect, who last threw June 22nd for Double-A Harrisburg, could slot in on Tuesday, when Washington - which placed Stephen Strasburg on the DL today - needs a spot starter. But # 9 prospect Austin Voth, who's no chopped liver either (2.99 ERA at Triple-A Syracuse) and last worked on June 23rd, probably makes more sense. The Nationals are expected to announce a roster move on Monday.

Stephen Strasburg injury is Nationals' nightmare

With Stephen Strasburg hurt again, you couldn't blame GM Mike Rizzo and the Nats if they're feeling a bit anxious about their $175 million investment.

Strasburg injury is Nationals' nightmare

The Nationals signed Strasburg to a seven-year, $175 million contract month, but the team's ace can't stay healthy. Was it a mistake?

There's a reason they're the aces

For these four teams, their ace pitchers might as well be gold. And the drop off from their stats in comparison to all others should give you a good idea of why.

Tristan H. Cockcroft ESPN Senior Writer

The Nationals scratched Stephen Strasburg on Sunday, which casts doubt upon his Week 13 status. Barring good news in the next 24 hours, he's too risky to keep in.
