If Rory MacDonald and Jake Ellenberger have one thing in common, it's that they are in kill mode from the first bell. Slow starters are shark bait to these two. Early exchanges, though, do favor Ellenberger. He has wicked power in both hands and he's good at cutting off the cage, cornering opponents. If MacDonald gets careless in the pocket during the first five minutes, he's playing with fire. That said, MacDonald's striking has more to it. He has the better jab, kicks and throws to the body much more so than Ellenberger. Clear athletic advantage to MacDonald. He's a huge welterweight but doesn't forfeit speed because of it. Though Ellenberger has better mat credentials, I'd actually favor MacDonald in the grappling aspect, as well.
