Brian Stann
Ed Mulholland for ESPN

For some, the combination of Brian Stann's power and Wanderlei Silva's suspect chin is enough to mark down an early finish for Stann and move on. I'm tempted to take a closer look. In the two fights since the 27-second loss to Chris Leben, Silva has gone more conservative. He'll still blitz, but you can tell he wants to circle and counter instead of brawl. I don't think Stann will mind being the aggressor here and although he does feint well, he doesn't have that terrific lead jab to throw off Silva's rhythm. As good as Silva is in the Thai clinch, that's actually an underrated part of Stann's game. He's physically strong and throws effective knees and body punches from there. Five-round fight favors Stann.
