UFC Fight Night 28    September 4, 2013
Joseph Benavidez
Ric Fogel for ESPN

Jussier Formiga looked more comfortable in his second UFC appearance than his first, but that will be a tough trend to continue against Joseph Benavidez. One aspect of Benavidez's game that might play big here is his ability to counter the counter. He pursues, gets an opponent to throw, then slips and lands his own punches. He does so while switching stances, and it can be devastatingly effective. Formiga is great on the floor, but he can be guilty of telegraphing his shots. He's flat-out awesome in the scramble, but so is Benavidez. If he can't come up with another way to take him down, it doesn't look too good. Benavidez should own a stand-up fight.
