It seemed like the Karl Amoussou/Ben Askren fight was forever in the making, but it finally went off at Bellator 86. And if in all those months leading up you were expecting something different from what took place, shame on you. Askren dares opponents to stop his reign of serial wrestling. The Frenchman Amoussou, who found himself on his back early and often, had nothing for him, and he paid a hefty price for his deficiencies. Askren's ground-and-pound assault was fierce, and he dished out enough cumulative punishment that the cageside doctors stopped the fight. It was vintage Askren with a little more violence. What happens if a fighter forces him to stand? That could be ugly, as Askren still looks awkward on his feet. But right now he remains the Bellator champion, and he doesn't show any signs of going away. His message for anybody who doesn't like it? Do something about it.
