Todd Duffee off DREAM 17 card
An undisclosed injury has forced Todd Duffee out of a scheduled heavyweight bout against Nick Gaston at DREAM 17 in Tokyo this weekend.
A representative from the promotion confirmed Duffee's withdrawal to ESPN.com and added Gaston has been removed from the card.
Duffee (6-2) hasn't fought since a 19-second knockout loss to Alistair Overeem in a DREAM title fight on December 31, which he accepted on short notice. After starting his career with six straight wins, Duffee is 0-2 in his last two fights, both by knockout.
The 25-year-old burst onto the scene in August 2009 with a first-round knockout over Tim Hague at UFC 102 that lasted seven seconds. The one-punch finish set the record for quickest knockout in the promotion's history.
He was released by the UFC one year later, four months after suffering the first loss of his career to Mike Russow at UFC 114. Although he's booked recent fights with DREAM, Duffee is currently not signed to a long-term deal with any promotion.
