Fighters make weight for Bellator card
Each of the Bellator Season 5 middleweight tournament semifinalists made weight Friday at Caesars Atlantic City.
Brian Rogers and opponent Alexander Shlemenko both weighed in at 185½ pounds. Brian Baker tipped the scale at 183 pounds, while his semifinal foe Vitor Vianna checked in at 185¼.
Bellator bantamweight champion Zach Makovsky (13-2) came in at 135 pounds. He faces Ryan Roberts (136½ pounds) in a nontitle fight.
Roberts (16-9) was given one hour to shed a half-pound, which would make the fight official. It was not immediately known if Roberts successfully cut the additional weight.
The semifinal bouts headline Bellator 54, which takes place Saturday night (MTV2, 9 p.m. ET) at Boardwalk Hall.
The hard-hitting Rogers will carry a seven-fight win streak, all by knockout, into the cage. He is 8-2 as professional.
"Beating Alexander Shlemenko makes me one of the best fighters in the world, and that's what's going down on Saturday," Rogers said after stepping off the scale.
Schlemenko (41-7) has knocked out 25 of his opponents. He puts a four-fight wins streak on the line against Rogers.
Baker is 16-2 overall; Vianna is 12-1-1.
