Thiago Alves-Martin Kampmann said set

Former welterweight contenders Thiago Alves and Martin Kampmann have agreed to meet on March 3, a source with knowledge of the situation told on Wednesday.

UFC has not yet officially announced the fight.

Alves has struggled to find consistency since dropping a unanimous decision to 170-pound champion Georges St. Pierre in July 2009 at UFC 100. He is 2-2 in his last four fights.

But Alves (19-8) looked sharp on Nov. 5, when he beat Papy Abedi by submission at UFC 138.

The win earned Alves a shot at Kampmann (18-5), who, on Nov. 19, defeated Rick Story in an impressive unanimous decision at UFC 139 to end a two-fight losing skid.
