Jon Jones, Lyoto Machida make weight
TORONTO -- A very confident champion and a determined No. 1 contender both came in on weight Friday, during the official weigh-in for UFC 140.
Jon Jones (14-1), the youngest light heavyweight champion in the promotion's history, came in right at the 205-pound limit. The challenger, and former champion, Lyoto Machida (17-2) weighed 204 pounds.
"This is an awesome opportunity against an awesome opponent," Jones said. "I'm grateful for the whole situation. I can't wait to go out there and make a statement."
Veteran lightweight Dennis Hallman (50-14-2) was the only fighter scheduled for Saturday's event that failed to make weight. He did not attempt a second cut after initially weighing in at 158.5 pounds and will forfeit a percentage of his purse.
His opponent, undefeated John Makdessi (9-0), weighed-in at 155.5 pounds.
