Miller, Guillard make weight
NASHVILLE -- Lightweight contenders Jim Miller and Melvin Guillard made weight Thursday for their main event bout at UFC on FX.
Miller (20-3), who dealt with a kidney infection in his previous fight, against Ben Henderson, as a result of cutting weight, appeared comfortable at 155 pounds. Guillard (29-9-2) came in right at the 156-pound limit.
Each lightweight had his title hopes slightly derailed in late 2011. Miller saw his seven-fight winning streak snapped in a decision loss to Henderson. Guillard suffered a submission loss at the hands of Joe Lauzon.
With both desperate for a comeback win, Friday should deliver a compelling bout.
"I expect a great fight between Melvin and I," Miller said. "We're two of the best guys in the division. I'm hungry for the win."
All eight fighters on the televised portion of the card made weight inside Bridgestone Arena.
Welterweight Duane Ludwig (21-11), who was recently crowned the holder of the fastest knockout in UFC history by the promotion, came in at 170.5 pounds. His opponent, Josh Neer (32-10-1), weighed 171.
In heavyweight action, both Pat Barry and Christian Morecraft could be fighting for his UFC life Friday. Barry (6-4), who looks to snap the first two-fight losing streak of his career, came in at 242 pounds. Morecraft (7-2) looked fitter than he has in the past, coming in at 256 pounds.
