Sources close to the situation confirmed to ESPN.com the promotion's plans to broadcast UFC 150 from the Pepsi Center on Aug. 11. MMAJunkie.com first reported the likely headliner.
The two lightweights met earlier this year at UFC 144 on Feb. 26 in Saitama, Japan. Henderson (16-2), a former WEC lightweight champion, won the belt via unanimous decision after a closely contested five rounds.
"I'm not trying to shoot anybody out of anything they deserve, but I had to do two immediate rematches," said Edgar during the post-fight news conference in Japan. "What's right?"
Henderson was open to the possibility of an immediate rematch. He is a perfect 4-0 since the WEC merged with the UFC in early 2011.
The UFC has targeted the city of Denver to host a lightweight title fight between Ben Henderson and Frankie Edgar in August.
