An undisclosed injury has forced Yoshihiro Akiyama out of his July 21 welterweight bout at UFC 149, the promotion announced Tuesday on its website.
Akiyama was slated to face former top contender Thiago Alves. Alves will instead face Siyar Bahadurzada, who makes his second appearance inside the Octagon.
In his UFC debut on April 14, Bahadurzada (21-4-1) knocked out Paulo Thiago in the first round. He enters the bout against Alves on a seven-fight win streak.
A former middleweight, Bahadurzada is 4-0 at 170 pounds.
Alves (19-9) looks to rebound from a third-round submission loss March 3 against Martin Kampmann.
UFC 149 takes place at Scotiabank Saddledome in Calgary, Alberta.
