Top bantamweight contender Urijah Faber will remain on the UFC 148 card and fight for the interim title, promotion president Dana White announced Tuesday night.
UFC has yet to decide whom Faber will face at the July 7 event in Las Vegas.
"What's going to happen is that Urijah Faber is going to fight still, he's going to fight on the same card," White said. "I'm looking for the right opponent -- the guy who deserves this shot and Urijah Faber."
Faber was originally slated to face 135-pound champion Dominick Cruz for the bantamweight weight title at UFC 148. But Cruz suffered a torn ACL during training and was forced to withdraw from the bout.
