Ronda Rousey to defend title
Strikeforce women's bantamweight champion Ronda Rousey will make her first title defense Aug. 18 against Sarah Kaufman, promotion CEO Scott Coker announced Tuesday.
"I want to say the rumors that have been out there for some time are true," Coker said during a media call. "Ronda Rousey will in fact meet former champion Sarah Kaufman."
The bout will be held at Valley View Casino Center in San Diego.
Rousey (5-0) claimed the 135-pound belt March 3 with a first-round armbar submission of then-titleholder Miesha Tate.
Kaufman (15-1) relinquished the title on Oct. 9, 2010, to Marloes Coenen. That bout ended in the third round when Kaufman was submitted via an armbar.
