Travis Browne out 2-4 months

UFC heavyweight contender Travis Browne suffered a torn hamstring Friday night during his first-round TKO loss to Antonio "Bigfoot" Silva in Minneapolis.

"They said I tore my hamstring. I'll be out for 2-4 months," Browne said on Twitter. "I'll be back stronger!"

Browne added that he will not need surgery on the hamstring.

The injury occurred early in the opening round when Browne delivered a kick. Shortly thereafter, he began favoring his left leg and was less aggressive.

The less mobile Browne was unable to elude a right hand from Silva and was knocked out at the 3:27 mark.

It was the first loss as a mixed martial artist for Browne, who fell to 13-1-1. Silva improved to 17-4 after halting a two-fight skid.
