Dustin Poirier to return in December
Featherweight contender Dustin Poirier and "The Ultimate Fighter" Season 12 winner Jonathan Brookins have agreed to meet Dec. 15 in Las Vegas.
The bout is expected to be on TUF Season 16 finale's main card, which will be held at the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino.
Poirier (12-2) looks to rebound from a fourth-round submission loss to Chan Sung Jung in May. That loss snapped a five-fight win streak for Poirier, who is ranked seventh by ESPN.com among 145-pound fighters.
Brookins also is looking to bounce back from a submission loss. He was the victim of an anaconda choke June 1 against Charles Oliveira.
Life inside the Octagon has been difficult for Brookins (13-5) since winning TUF in December 2010 with a unanimous decision over Michael Johnson.
Brookins has lost two of his three most recent bouts.
Former UFC interim heavyweight champion Shane Carwin will meet Roy Nelson in the TUF 16 finale main event.
