UFC plans event in Boston
The UFC has announced an event planned for Aug. 17 at TD Garden in Boston.
UFC president Dana White, a Boston-area native, broke the news via his Twitter feed on Friday. The event will air on Fox Sports 1, which makes its network debut on the same day.
"We are FINALLY going back to Boston at the TD Gardon on Aug. 17 for the launch of FOX Sports 1," White tweeted.
The UFC has made one previous trip to the Northeastern city, in August 2010. The UFC 118 pay-per-view card featured a lightweight title fight between Frankie Edgar and BJ Penn, and drew a reported gate of $2.8 million.
No bouts have yet been confirmed for the August event.
