NEWARK, N.J. -- After weighing in Friday, welterweight Nick Catone suffered dehydration and was taken to a hospital, promotion officials announced Saturday.
As a result, the fight between Catone and James Head has been removed from UFC 159, which takes place Saturday night at Prudential Center. Catone tipped the scale at 173 pounds, two more than the welterweight nontitle-bout limit. It is not yet known if Catone attempted to shed the additional pounds before falling ill.
A native of Englewood, N.J., Catone was seeking to snap a two-fight losing skid. He is 9-4 professionally.
Head (9-3) had no difficulty making weight for the fight, checking in at 170.25 pounds.
