Werdum, Nogueira make weight

The rematch between heavyweight contenders Fabricio Werdum and Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira became official Friday when each man made weight for their Saturday night showdown in Fortaleza, Brazil.

Werdum weighed 242 pounds; Nogueira tipped the scale at 237.

A victory will extend Werdum's winning streak to three and allow him to avenge a unanimous decision loss to Nogueira in July 2006. Werdum, ranked fourth among heavyweights by ESPN.com, will enter the Octagon with a record of 16-5-1.

Nogueira, a former UFC interim heavyweight champion, will seek his second win in a row. He defeated Dave Herman by second-round armbar submission in October 2012 to improve to his pro mark to 34-7-1.

Light heavyweights Thiago Silva and Rafael Cavalcante get to settle their recent dispute. Silva checked in at 206 pounds; Cavalcante weighed 204.

Every fighter on the card qualified for the event. However, middleweight Ronny Markes was involved in a car accident earlier Friday and was pulled from the event. He was slated to face Derek Brunson.

According to UFC officials, Markes was not seriously injured.
