Lowe: Why OKC-San Antonio III is no undercard

Even with record-setters at Golden State and royalty in Cleveland, Thunder-Spurs III is still main-event worthy (Game 1, Saturday at 8:30 p.m. ET).

LaMarcus Aldridge is 2 of 2 right out the gate. Adams is a physical matchup for Aldridge, but one he should be able to exploit w/his moves in the post.

It's an advantage that usually gets very little play, but you can't deny the home crowd's impact; especially in a series between familiar foes. Support from the home crowd is definitely one of the factors in San Antonio finishing the regular season 40-1 at home.

Luke Walton's deal (5 years, $5-6 million per year, per ESPN) & Scott Brooks' deal (reportedly 5 years, $35 million) make you wonder about David Blatt's value/market if Phil Jackson chooses to make him an offer. Knicks ownership is already paying Jackson and the fired Derek Fisher a total of approximately $80 million. Given that, how much will ownership want to pay its next head coach?

Spurs coach Gregg Popovich just said there won't be "any magic tricks" in this series considering all the familiarity between San Antonio and Oklahoma City. Pop said neither team "is trying to re-invent the wheel" and that this game will come down to all the basketball things that secure wins: execution, not turning over the ball, etc.

This big 7-3 fella Boban Marjanovich could be a key figure in helping San Antonio combat OKC's superior rebounding.
